Nantwich newlywed Gary Upton has revealed how he felt after missing out on a million pounds on the dramatic last Red or Black ITV show.

The 24-year-old, who lives in Willaston with wife Sarah, made it through to the final stage when he had to simply pick red or black to win a million.

But like the dream he’d had before the show, Gary chose the wrong colour and left empty-handed.

Liverpool FC fan Gary, who works at Bentley in Crewe, told Nantwichnews he felt “deflated” the moment he saw the ball nestle in the wrong colour.

But he has no regrets as from the start of the show he vowed to choose red if he made it through to the final.

“From my first involvement in the show I always said that if I were to get to the final spin I would go red,” he said.

“In the time leading up to the show there were a few signs telling me to go black but I didn’t know if it was self-doubt in my decision.

“If I had changed my mind and picked black and it came up red I would be kicking myself for not going with my gut instinct.

“After the ball dropped into black it was a bit deflating after all the build up to the end of the show but I was still on a massive high of adrenaline from all the games and getting to the final stage.”

He said wife Sara, who was watching on, was more nervous than he was.

“I said on the show that I had a dream beforehand and in the dream I had lost,” he added.

“If I had won the money I would of bought a house as we are renting at the minute, a nice car Lamborghini or a Bentley, given some money to family and all the guys on my stag weekend and then a holiday at New Year to New York.

“I applied for the show just to take part as never in a million years did I imagine I could make it to the final. At every stage I just wanted to get through to the next round to keep the experience going.

“It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so glad I took part even though I was unsuccessful at the final stage.”
