Nantwich Police are cracking down on rowdy revellers by issuing more section 27 banning orders.

Twenty-one orders were served on people causing trouble in the town during August, a rise compared to June and July.

Fifteen people were also arrested during the same month for serious public disorder close to various licensed premises in the town.

Section 27 orders effectively ban someone from entering the town centre for up to 48 hours.

“We issued noticeably more orders in August than previous months,” said Insp Dave Smithers (pictured), head of Nantwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit.

“Historically, more people come into the town in August during the holiday season, warmer weather and so on. So we wanted to respond to that.

“Most of the arrests and orders were made between 11pm and 3am.”

Insp Smithers said his officers would continue to act swiftly on people out to cause trouble.

“We will continue to respond decisively to reassure residents and business owners that public disorder will not be tolerated.”
