Nantwich Christmas Lights switch-on 2011

Hundreds of families braved the chilly air to enjoy the traditional Nantwich Christmas Lights switch-on in the town square.

Despite the cold, everyone had fun with the Signal Radio Roadshow featuring giveaways and several talented musicians.

These included duo Myles & Connor   singing cover versions of hit records, Tom Seals   fresh from his first year of studies at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, and boyband FTW  performing their debut single ‘Love shot’, to be released at the end of January 2012.

Molly Monroe also performed her debut single due for release next year.

There was also a children’s mini-funfair and refreshments.

Signal 1  radio presenter Simon Morykin was master of ceremonies who, along with Nantwich Town Crier John Parsons, led the countdown to the switch-on at 5.30pm.

Nantwich Mayor Cllr Arthur Moran pressed the switch to light up the town.

Sue Togay, town centre manager at Cheshire East Council, said: “We are pleased to see the people of Nantwich and the surrounding areas come out to celebrate the beginning of the festive season.

“The event was organised and supported by Cheshire East and Nantwich Town Council and we hope everyone will support the Sunday trading in the town during December.

“We would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2012.”
