Fire crews had to tackle a blaze in a Nantwich home caused by a dishwasher.

Crews from Nantwich and Crewe were called out to a kitchen fire at a house on the Cronkinson Oak estate.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel water jet to put out the flames and then a large fan to clear smoke from the property.

Smoke alarms had already been fitted and had activated. No one was injured in the incident on Sunday December 4 at around 4.30pm.

Crews carried out a further home safety assessment at the address and at adjacent properties.

In another incident, fire crews tackled a car blaze on Shrewbridge Road, Nantwich.

The car was found well alight by Nantwich Lake at about 5am yesterday (December 5).

It’s believed the vehicle had been stolen. Police are investigating.
