Nantwich residents are being urged to join in this year’s Sport Relief campaign.

The charity looks to raise money for Comic Relief via sporting challenges, including the popular Sport Relief Mile.

And in Cheshire East, people can take part at two venues staging the challenge on Sunday March 25 – Cumberland Arena in Crewe and Macclesfield Leisure Centre.

Last year, the leisure development team at Cheshire East Council raised more than £12,000.

This year they are offering a four-week pre-Sport Relief fitness camp, which is free but people must book in advance.

They are also appealing for volunteers to help out at the event itself.

Cllr Rod Menlove said: “The important part of Sport Relief is that it raises much-needed cash for people here in Cheshire East, as well as abroad.

“Whether people decide to run one mile, three or even six, our leisure development team will be on hand to help everyone prepare properly.”
