Members of South Cheshire Harriers running club have helped to raise more than £2,000 for Age UK Cheshire.

They presented a cheque for £2,300 to the charity at an awards dinner at Crewe Golf Club.

The cheque, which was in addition to a further £346 the charity had already received, was raised through sporting challenges and social events the club had participated in during 2011.

This included the London Marathon, a 20-mile race, a raffle, a cake sale and a curry night.

Age UK Cheshire will put the money towards funding its services in the Crewe and Nantwich areas, including an advocacy service which has helped 200 older people.
