The Very Best in Stand Up returns to Nantwich Civic Hall for a new season in September with a top bill of acts lined up.

And to kick off, promoters have Charlie Baker, Nick Page, Carl Donnelly and Gary Delaney appearing on Friday September 7.

Baker (pictured), who will compere the evening, is a regular on Channel 4 as team captain on “A Short History Of Everything Else” alongside Griff Rhys Jones and Marcus Brigstocke.

He’s also appeared on Never Mind The Buzzcocks and  won BBC’s ‘Let’s Dance For Comic Relief’ a couple of years ago.

Long-time comedian Page, a former presenter of “Escape To The Country”, is one of the biggest characters on the UK circuit and admired for his hilarious story-telling.

Donnelly is one the UK’s leading young comics, with regular appearances on Mock The Week, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Stand Up For The Week.

He’s also enjoyed several sold out runs at the Edinburgh festival.

Delaney, who will close the show, is seen as one of the finest joke writers in the country – a king of the one-liners.

Thsi talent has brought him to our screens on Dave’s One Night Stand and Mock The Week, and the BBC described him as “The comedian Jimmy Carr wishes he could be”.

Promoter Mike Ramm said: “We had a great start to 2012 and we’re glad to be back with a bill of acts as strong as this.

“If you’re yet to come to the Civic Hall for the comedy this is a great show to make your first.”
