kidz kitchen involved in science week

Two Nantwich mums are stirring up a heap of fun for youngsters with their new baking business.

Tracey Cooke and Gill Fox, both from Wybunbury, launched “KidzKitchen” to introduce healthy cooking to children.

And their idea could prove to be a real ‘bread-winner’ after ‘rising’ to the challenge in a series of taster sessions at venues like Cheerbrook coffee shop, on Newcastle Road.

Sessions are aimed at children aged two and over, and focus on fun ways to prepare and cook wholesome foods.

Tracey, a former primary school teacher in Crewe, said: “With so much emphasis on obesity, we want children to learn that wholesome food doesn’t come out of a box in the supermarket and that creating your own meals can be fun.

“We are linking sessions to government guidelines on healthy eating but also want children to develop traditional cooking methods.

“Children can roll up their sleeves, put on their aprons and enjoy a hands-on cookery experience!”

The friends are currently offering pre-school and after school classes but have also worked in partnership with Sportscape, Crewe YMCA and Crewe Women’s Aid.

“We are keen to get involved with any other community groups or organisations who feel they could benefit from our services,” Tracey added.

“It would be great to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer to help with children’s activities at this year’s food festival as we are
co-ordinating this too.

“We will be offering free practical cookery sessions to local primary school children and running a healthy lunchbox competition too.”

KidzKitchen can also host children’s parties and 45-minute long pre-school classes, and classes for children aged 4 and over.
