Thousands of people are expected to flood the Nantwich village of Wybunbury this weekend for the annual Fig Pie Wakes.

The event, which starts at 1pm on Saturday (June 8), will feature dozens of entrants trying to roll their fig pies the furthest down the village’s main road.

Organisers are also putting on a host of other entertainment to make the day go with a bang.

There will be a brass band and choir performing, tower tours of the church’s famous leaning tower, steam engine and vintage car display, tug of war.

There will also be an art exhibition, crafts, bouncy castle, hog roast, market stalls, refreshments and live bands.

Fig pie recipes and race application forms are available from The Swan, The Red Lion, and the village post office.
