The second “Societies Spectacular” will be held in Nantwich town square this weekend.

The event aims to raise awareness of local societies and clubs, and give residents a chance to participate.

It will see around 30 groups giving displays and demonstrations in the square on Saturday (July 13) between 10am and 2pm.

Clubs representing a wide range of activities will take part and residents are encouraged to go along and get involved.

Event organiser Cllr Stuart Hutton said: “People don’t realise Nantwich and the surrounding area has an embarrassment of riches in terms of clubs and societies.

“There really is something for everyone, from arts and crafts to extreme sports.

“Joining a club is a great way to meet new people, do something you’ve always wanted, or learn new skills – but most importantly, have fun.”

The Societies Spectacular is based on the concept of a “Fresher’s Fair” which are traditionally held at universities during the first week of term.

The inaugural event took place last year and proved to be a big hit with residents and local clubs alike.
