Yorkshire Building Society colleagues in Nantwich scaled new heights to help raise more than £500 for charity.

Six members of staff climbed Snowdon in aid of the stillborn and neonatal death charity, Sands, which provides local support throughout Cheshire.

The group reached heights of more than 1,000 metres above sea-level after being sponsored to do the challenge by customers at their High Street branch.

“We’re committed to helping causes in our local community and Sands is a charity that really is close to our hearts after it supported one of our colleagues,” said Caris Bayley, manager of the Nantwich branch.

“As a team we came up with the idea to do something challenging and once our customers got wind of our plans, it went from there – it’s certainly been a talking point in branch!

“There has been a real buzz of support from all our customers and everyone has been so generous with their sponsorship. We’re delighted with the amount raised.”

The money raised will go towards supporting people in Cheshire affected by the death of a baby, to improve the quality of care and services provided to bereaved parents and their families and to promote and fund future research.
