Building work on the £1.4 million Nantwich swimming pool revamp could be complete in the next couple of weeks.

Staff hope all the building work should be over in “two weeks” with only the viewing area (pictured below) still to be completed.

The indoor pool and gym facilities are currently open for business at the Wall Lane site.

Improvements have included a new fitness studio, larger fitness suite with new equipment, reception and new entrance with improved accessibility together with refurbished changing rooms including a family changing area.

The work has been a eight-month project which started back in December.

Opening hours at Barony Park and Shavington Leisure Centre have been extended to help accommodate people from Nantwich when the fitness suites were shut during work.

Cllr Rod Menlove, Cabinet member in charge of environmental services, said: “With its outdoor brine pool, the Nantwich Pool complex is a unique facility in the North West and this refurbishment will improve its appeal for local people and the many visitors to the town.”

Went to the pool last night for swimming lesson which had been cancelled but we hadn’t been informed, the reason was complete boiler failure!! I would like to know why someone decided to put slate flooring in the wet areas, I have slipped twice and seen three other people slip, I love the irony of having to put out ‘slippery when wet’ signs. Also why are there sio few floor drains to remove the large quantities of water, the changing areas are always soaking wet. I have rarely seen such a poorly thought out design and construction, amazingly bad!
