Families in Nantwich have the chance to clown around – thanks to Reaseheath College’s circus-themed maze.

The Nantwich college’s popular attraction is pulling in record numbers of visitors eager to make the most of the warm weather.

The puzzle leads into giant crop of forage maize which has reached 8ft high thanks to last month’s extended hours of sunshine.

The trail features illustrations of circus acts and clowns and visitors who fill in a quiz correctly receive a small prize.

There is a full size maze which takes around two hours, and a smaller maze for younger or less active visitors.

Reaseheath has built a maze on campus for the past 15 years.

An exhibition celebrating the history of the attraction is also open along with a picnic area with new activities and a small gift shop.

Maze coordinator Jess Christie said: “We aim to provide a really good day out of affordable fun for all the family.

“We have had a lot of visitors to the maze already, including big groups of adults who like using it as a competition.

“We are obviously hoping that this amazing sunshine lasts, but visitors should remember that they will be out of doors and come prepared for all weathers and conditions.”

A nature trail connects the maze to the college’s zoo, which is also open to the public.

The zoo is based at a £3 million animal management training centre which houses 1,000 animals and caters for over 800 students.

Resident animals include ring tailed lemurs, meerkats, tapirs, spider monkeys, a baby cotton top monkey, birds of prey, rabbits, guinea pigs and a variety of reptiles, amphibians and insects.

Both attractions are now open until September 8. A combination ticket admitting two adults and two children is just £30, with under threes allowed in free.

Reaseheath Maze and Zoo opens daily 10am to 5pm.

Ticket prices: Family (2 adults, 2 children): Combined attractions £30; maze only £16; zoo only £15. Children under three free.
