Hunderds of people enjoyed festive fun at a Santa Dash which brought a splash of red to Nantwich town centre.

People dressed as Santa, Mrs Claus, elves, snowmen and even a few Santa dogs for the event to raise money for Hope House Hospice.

Nantwich Young Voices sang carols before the start to put runners and spectators gathered on Nantwich town square into the Christmas spirit.

Online community radio station RedShift Radio compered the event.

There was a warm up from the staff of Total Fitness followed by a quick reminder of the 2km route before participants moved to the start line for the 11am set off yesterday (December 7).

The first runner (dressed in a fetching tiger onesie) crossed the finish line in around 7 minutes 30 seconds with the second placed runner just a few seconds behind.

Each participant received a medal, a mince pie from Chatwins and goodie bags from Total Fitness and Hanley’s.

The race was sponsored by 1st Choice for Homes.

Proceeds from the event will go to Hope House Children’s Hospice.
