Christmas Day - Nantwich Methodist Church, Hospital Street

More than 80 people enjoyed the launch of “Nantwich Family Films@4” – a community cinema project in Nantwich.

There was a party atmosphere at Nantwich Methodist Church as children let off party poppers as Crewe & Nantwich MP Edward Timpson formally opened the project.

Families then enjoyed the screening of Disney’s “Wreck it Ralph”.

Mr Timpson, who brought his son Sam along to the launch, said: “As a parent of young children myself I know all too well the pressures to keep them occupied each and every weekend.

“This community cinema will be of great benefit to many families living in Nantwich who currently have to travel some distance to catch a film.

“Congratulations to Geoff and his team at Nantwich Methodist Church on getting this excellent project up and running.”

Geoff Etherton, children, young people & families worker, welcomed those present and thanked the organisations who had provided funding enabling the launch of the project.

These included Nantwich Town Council, Nantwich Rotary, the Rank Foundation, the Co-Operative Community Fund, Chester & Stoke on Trent Methodist District Families Fund, and Cheshire South Methodist Circuit.

Some children had their faces painted to get into the spirit of the film, and there was a cinema-style popcorn maker.

Films will be screened on the third Sunday of each month.

The next screening is Despicable Me 2, which will be on Sunday February 16 at 4pm.

Family tickets which cover up to two adults and four children are just £10 per family.

Individual tickets cost £3 available from Nantwich Methodist Church or Nantwich Bookshop from February 1.

Refreshments are on sale at low cost, and face painting is also available from 3.15pm.
