Stewart Gandy, cyclist killed on A530, man on trial

A 36-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a collision with a cyclist near Nantwich.

The collision resulted in the death of Wistaston cyclist Stewart Gandy on the A530 at Baddington.

It happened as a lorry and Mr Gandy (pictured) were travelling along Whitchurch Road at about 1.40pm on Tuesday November 12.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but 65-year-old Mr Gandy died at the scene.

Paul Anthony Byrne, from Leigh, Greater Manchester, was arrested on Tuesday November 12 and was released on bail pending further inquiries.

On answering bail on April 30  2014, Byrne was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed and is due to appear at South Cheshire Magistrates Court on Tuesday May 20.
