queueing traffic London Road A51 in Stapeley

Motorists are being warned of more traffic chaos in Nantwich when a major route closes for almost a week.

The A51 London Road at Stapeley will be closed from its junction with Peter Destapleigh Way to Howbeck Bridge.

And drivers are warned that work by Cheshire East Highways to carry out major patching of potholes is likely to take six days.

It will be closed between Wednesday June 11 and Tuesday June 17 on weekdays between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Diversion signs will in place sending motorists via the A51 Nantwich Road, A525 Audlem Road/Woore Road, A529 Cheshire Street/Audlem Road, A530 Peter Destapleigh Way, and return.

Pedestrian access will remain open, and access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and residents where possible.

  1. Not really sure why the word ‘six’ was capitalised… it’s hardly a long period for a major ‘A’ road to be closed.

I am sure that anyone who uses it would agree that parts of it are in a horrendous condition and that improvement works are urgently needed.

Completion of the works will bring a degree of respite to the long-suffering residents of London Road, Stapeley.
