Families are being invited to a Summer Fair this month at RSPCA Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre and Cattery in Nantwich.

The event, on Sunday June 29, will feature a host of activities to help raise funds for the centre on London Road.

It will include a dog agility show; photo pet competition; archery; music and entertainment; stalls and refreshments; a ferret show and competition; a tasty bake off; grand prize draw and tombola; along with pet photography, micro-chipping and more.

The day has been organised as part of the centre’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

To celebrate the milestone, staff and volunteers at the centre are hoping to raise £50,000 through a series of events.

All funds raised will buy equipment for the hospital, support Stapeley’s education programme, and help cover the cost of feeding and looking after animals.

Last month, the centre had another milestone to celebrate after it recorded its 100,000th animal to have passed through its doors.

The staggering number signifies the important work that the centre provides in caring for sick and injured cats and wildlife.

Lee Stewart, centre manager, said: “2014 is a very special year for the centre.

“It is remarkable to think how much has been achieved here in the last 20 years.

“But we are always looking to the future, which is why this fundraising appeal is vital in helping us to move forward to continue looking after the thousands of animals admitted each year, for another 20 years and hopefully longer.

“The Summer Fair is one of the biggest events on our calendar and a lot of planning and hard work has gone in to it to make it a really special day.

“There really is something for everyone and we just hope people of Cheshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire will join us and have a great day as well as do their bit to help animals in need.”

Entry for the event is £2 for adults and £1 for OAPs and children. Children under five go free.

The event will be from 10am until 5pm.

The cattery and wildlife garden will be open to the public and dogs must be kept on leads.
