North West Air Ambulance in Crewe after stabbings

A man is due to appear in court today (August 18) charged with two counts of attempted murder following stabbings in Crewe town centre.

Matthew Bullows, 29, of West Street area in Crewe, will appear at South Cheshire Magistrates.

He is charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

A 72-year-old woman was stabbed close to WH Smiths in the Victoria Centre around 11.30am on Saturday (August 16).

She remains in a serious but stable condition in North Staffordshire Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent.

A 55-year-old man was injured in second incident close to the Asda store shortly afterwards.

He was treated by paramedics and shop workers at the scene and taken to hospital before being discharged.

Crewe Police issued a thanks today to all those who helped during the incident on Saturday.

“Thankyou to the shopkeepers and retailers in Crewe whose co-operation assisted our investigation on Saturday,” they tweeted this morning.
