Mark Jones, skipper of Nantwich Town

Nantwich Town boss Danny Johnson has brought in two new players as the club’s injury crisis deepens.

The Dabbers sent out a patched up team which was beaten 4-0 away at Grantham Town last night (October 21).

Nantwich had been on top in the first 20 minutes but were then reduced to 10 men with the sending off of Matt Kosylo for second bookable offence.

Earlier in the day Johnson managed to secure the signings of defenders Kyle Harrop and Andrew Pearson.

Key players currently sidelined at Weaver Stadium include influential skipper Mark Jones (pictured) with an ankle injury.

Others on the treatment table are Adam Jones (calf), Adam Pepper (groin), Sam Wilson (tight hamstring), Steve Jones (calf) and Shaun Dowling (lower back).

“The amount of injuries we have had and we are experiencing again is ridiculous,” said Johnson.

“I can’t get my head around it and it is really hampering our chances of moving forward.

“I’m getting very frustrated and I know the players are getting a little fed up as well.

“It’s difficult to keep spirits in the group high but we need the lads to dig very deep over the next few weeks and stick together.

“Kyle Harrop knows his way around this level of football and will settle in to the squad very quickly.

“He has exceptional ability as a footballer and I have struck lucky at being able to bring someone of his quality and experience in at such late notice. The same goes for Andy Pearson.

“I was bitterly disappointed at his decision to sign for FC United in the summer but he went about it the right way and I welcome him back with open arms.

“I would like to thank Karl Marginson at FC United as well as Gary Vaughan and Wayne Goodison at Trafford for allowing the transfers to go through so quickly.”
