Nantwich families will be all shook up this month when Elvis himself switches on the town’s Christmas Lights.

Paul Larcombe, one of the world’s top Elvis impersonators, will be the guest of honour at the Nantwich town Christmas Lights switch-on on November 22.

Crewe-based Larcombe is widely recognised as one of the best and will be in full Presley pose for the switch-on which will be performed at 6.30pm in the town square.

Nantwich Town Council has also organised a fireworks display by Blitz Fireworks.

The event will begin at 5.30pm with Young Voices and Rector of St Mary’s Church leading the chorus of carol singing.

There will also be entertainment, rides and refreshments on offer during the event which attracts thousands into the town centre.

Town Mayor Cllr Christine Farrall said: “The Civic Hall team has been working really hard on an even more colourful display this year.

“It should be a fabulous event as it always is, so I hope to see lots of people there.”

Nantwich Town FC have offered free parking at its Weaver Stadium ground on Waterlode on November 22, as well as on busy Christmas shopping days between December 21 and 24.

Cllr Arthur Moran said: “This is great news, it is good to see the football club and the town council working together. I hope shoppers take advantage of this period.”

  1. So it’s not exactly ‘Elvis himself’, is it?
I just love the way Nantwich moves with the times – I’m over 60 and I can barely remember Elvis Presley in his prime. Can’t Nantwich Town Council find someone younger (Elvis would have been 79 by now) and a bit more meaningful to younger residents to do the honours?
And yet more fireworks, so soon after Bonfire Night, will be a total waste of money, which could be much better spent.

    • hi billy,
I find your comment a bit harsh Elvis reached into the hearts of thousands and some of the young kids today remember him through the parents and grandparents. i am a big fan of Elvis and have been to a lot of Paul shows and he does a fantastic job and he has done a lot for nantwich and raised a lot of money for charity in the area. so in my oppinion paul has earned the privilege.
