Representatives from Nantwich In Bloom were recognised for their gold-winning status at last night’s town council meeting.
Nantwich were awarded Gold for ‘Best Town’ in the North West In Bloom awards last month, for their horticulture contribution.
A special award was also given to local residents, Doug and Penny Butterill (pictured above), for their outstanding contribution to North West in Bloom.
Doug, who has been involved with Nantwich In Bloom for nearly 40 years, said: “It’s a great honour to be have won this award.
“It was a combined effort of many contributors. Without my wife Penny’s encouragement, criticism and support, I couldn’t have done this!
“When we were planting some daffodils last year, a man who lives around the corner and is blind came over to talk to us.
“He came to thank us as he could see the yellow of the flowers. To help a blind man to see, that has to be one of my happiest moments.”

Mayor of Nantwich Town Council, Christine Farrall, congratulated representatives from Nantwich in Bloom (pictured above) for their efforts in the monthly town council meeting at Brookfield Hall.
She said: “It’s wonderful for Nantwich in Bloom to come away from The North West in Bloom presentation with this considerable award.”
Tom Deans, vice chairman of Nantwich in Bloom, said: “I want to thank everybody who helps in making Nantwich in Bloom what it is.
“The contributions come from a multitude of avenues, and together, these achievements make me proud to live in Nantwich.”
