Nantwich Town manager Danny Johnson has a fully fit squad for the Doodson Cup fixture at home to Stourbridge tonight (November 11).

And despite last week’s narrow defeat away at leaders Skelmersdale, he believes his team’s performance gave the travelling fans lots to be optimistic about.

“We have been magnificent in both games against Skelmersdale and we certainly didn’t deserve to lose on Tuesday,” he said.

“Skelmersdale are top for a reason.

“I don’t believe that reason is they are technically better than other teams.

“I just think they consistently work hard and make life difficult for the opposition.

“They have had a tough couple of games, our lads have done really well considering our recent run of defeats but mark my word we are back in the game.”

Johnson hopes recently injured players who included Mark Jones, Steve Jones, Mat Bailey, Shaun Dowling and Terry Smith, are all available for tonight.

“I am also hopeful of securing a loan signing from a Conference National team,” added Johnson.

“November and December are huge months for us. We need to produce what we have produced against Skelmersdale in the last two games, if we do that we will be a force to be reckoned with.

“I am conscious that we haven’t really given our supporters much to cheer about and we certainly haven’t been able to build on the promise we had shown in pre season.

“A few players have moved on recently due to one reason or another.

“I don’t want players who don’t want to be part of this football club and I don’t want players who don’t want to earn the right to be here.

“It is my opinion that too many people these days want and expect things to come easy but unfortunately life doesn’t work like that.

“You have to work hard for any reward and I am prepared to do just that to get mine and the players involved in the last two games proved to me they want to be here and they are prepared to work hard for their rewards.”

Kick off tonight at Weaver Stadium is 7.45pm.
