Wistaston Church Lane collect most Active Kids vouchers

Pupils at a Wistaston school bagged free play and cookery kit after collecting a staggering 31,000 vouchers!

The youngsters at Wistaston Church Lane Primary School gathered the Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers and and came top of the region.

They had encouraged family, friends, neighbours and locals to collect the vouchers so the school could acquire a range of sports equipment offered by the scheme.

New equipment included goal posts, footballs and rugby balls, bats and equipment for sports day.

This year, the school also ordered a range of cooking equipment offered by the scheme.

There was a range of goods from a mixer to scales, rolling pins, cutting boards and wooden spoons.

Olywn Payton, of Sainsbury’s Nantwich store on Middlewich Road, went to the school to view the equipment delivered.

She said: “I was amazed at the volume and the range of sporting equipment that the school was able to order.

“And the children enjoyed demonstrating some of the equipment that I personally had never seen before.

“What was even more exciting was the cooking equipment now available for schools to order as cookery in schools has become even more attractive with the popularity of TV cookery.”
