Nantwich Players

The latest production from Nantwich Players is an adaption from the classic comedy 80’s TV show, ‘Yes, Prime Minister’, writes Claire Faulkner.

Directed by Chris Ridge, Nantwich Players have delivered yet another great production this season.

The run has already sold out, so if you’re lucky enough to have a ticket, I can assure you that you’re going to have a great time watching “Prime Minister Hacker” try and solve the latest crisis in his government.

The four main cast members were great, and worked incredibly well together.

Simon Porter played a wonderful ‘Jim Hacker’, who through a series of misadventures finds himself trying to prevent a European disaster.

Backed up by loyal civil servants ‘Sir Humphrey Appleby’ played by Charlie Gobbett, ‘Bernard Woolley’ played by Ryan Bearpark and ‘Claire Sutton’ played by Clare Hoy, this production had the audience in fits of laughter.

It’s nice to see new faces and new ideas on stage at The Players.

Ryan Bearpark was one of the stars of the show for me, and I hope he returns in another Players production soon.

Although the TV show was originally broadcast in the 80s, the script has been brought up to date and includes topical references to the Euro, mobile phones and the financial crisis.

However, the comedy remains, and works incredibly well with this cast.

If you were a fan of the original series, you will enjoy this production of ‘Yes, Prime Minister’.

‘Yes, Prime Minister’ is on at The Players Theatre on Love Lane, Nantwich, until December 13.
