over the line - Nantwich Town against Barwell

Two late goals helped Nantwich Town to a much-needed victory over Barwell in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

Strikes by Mark Winslade and Steve Jones earned the Dabbers a crucial three points at the Weaver Stadium.

Nantwich began the game in the relegation places after a poor run of results at home which had seen them lose seven of their previous 10 games.

But a hardy 100 supporters who turned out watched a determined Danny Johnson side dominate their opponents who could have moved into the top six with victory.

Nantwich left it late, despite taking what they thought was a deserved lead earlier only for the goal to be inexplicably chalked off by a linesman who claimed it had not crossed the line!

But despite that and another injured official, the fourth time in a Nantwich game this season, the Dabbers battled on in atrocious weather conditions.

And Winslade finally broke the deadlock in the 85th minute.

A long ball down field found Matt Kosylo. He crossed to Iain Howard who headed down and Winslade flicked it backwards into the bottom corner.

Deep into more than 10 minutes of added time due to the linesman injury, Steve Jones sealed the victory.

The former Crewe Alexandra star is fed by Andy Pearson, who had dribbled into the box, and rifles home.

John Disney made a fine clearance off the line in the final few seconds to keep a clean sheet for Nantwich, who move out of the bottom four.
