Nantwich Town FC appoints a new managerial team - Danny Griggs

Former Nantwich Town favourite Danny Griggs says he hopes to “bring back the good times” to the club after joining new manager Phil Parkinson.

Griggs made more than 300 appearances for the Dabbers, and scored 103 goals, and won the Cheshire Senior Cup and the FA Vase.

And new boss Parkinson had no hesitation in bringing him and former Crewe Alex star Neil Sorvel in as his new management team.

Griggs was managing North West County Premier Division Neighbours Alsager Town, when he got the call from former teammate Parkinson.

Griggs said: “I have enjoyed cutting my management teeth at Alsager and would like to thank Terry Greer and the people at Alsager for the wonderful opportunity.

“But when I got the call from Phil I didn’t need much persuading.

“I obviously have a great affinity and love for Nantwich Town, its supporters and whilst there are challenges ahead, the opportunity and potential is immense.

“
I am looking forward to getting reacquainted with everybody and helping to bring back some good times.”

Former Crewe Alexandra and Macclesfield Town favourite Neil Sorvel also joins the team and having played over 550 League games and qualified as a UEFA A Licence coach.

He brings a wealth of experience to the team.

Sorvel said: “I have known Phil for some time and he is a born leader with an infectious spirit and having listened to his ideas and plans, together with his obvious love and passion for the club.

“I am delighted to be here and looking forward to helping towards coaching and producing a successful team that will play entertaining and attractive football.”
