Tarporley High School Piano Recital

Budding musicians at Tarporley High School will take part in a Music For Life partnership this weekend.

They will perform in a concert called “Inspire Music”, which will see them take to the stage at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

The event is a collaboration involving more than 130 students from Tarporley High School, Bishop Heber High School, Christleton High School and Neston High School as well as primary schools.

Tarporley’s head of music Mike Monument said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our young musicians to play to a large audience at such a high profile venue.

“It looks set to be a fantastic event!”

Student instrumentalists who are around Grade 3 or 4 or above and play brass, woodwind or string instruments will work alongside professional musicians and some students who will take part in singing workshops.

The Music for Life Junior Orchestra will also be performing at the event alongside saxophonist Iain Dixon (RNCM) who will join the concert as guest soloist.

It follows on from the school’s successful bid to buy a Grand Piano which has provided students a chance to take their piano playing to the next level.

Headteacher Sarah Lee said: “We are very proud of our talented musicians here at Tarporley and we wish them lots of luck for this special performance.”

The concert takes place tomorrow (Saturday February 14) at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester at 4.15pm.
