Sportscape Leisure celebrates 10 years with expansion plan

Nantwich-based Sportscape Leisure Limited is celebrating its tenth anniversary – with new client wins and expansion.

The sports coaching company, based at Reaseheath College, offers sports coaching through PE and school sport, teacher CPD, holiday clubs and birthday parties.

They now employ more than 30 people, and are looking to recruit to cope with increasing demand.

Matt Johnson, managing director, said: “We’re very proud of all we’ve achieved over the last decade and everything we continue to achieve on a daily basis.

“It’s incredible to look back and see how far we’ve come over the last ten years.”

The first school Sportscape worked with 10 years ago was Wrenbury Primary School, near Nantwich.

“We can remember when we started working with Wrenbury School as though it was yesterday.

“We’re so enthusiastic about what we do and enjoy nothing more than seeing what a difference our services make to organisations and children.”

Wrenbury School headteacher Bessa Cador, who joined in January, said: “The children all love Sportscape sessions – Matt and his team make every lesson both fun and educational.

“They are so inclusive with activities they provide and every child is challenged at an appropriate level.

“The staff work hard to ensure everyone, no matter what their ability, feels included and challenged in all the activities.”

Since its launch, Sportscape has expanded into other services alongside PPA cover sports coaching and after-school clubs to schools.

“We provide Mini Movers activity sessions for nursery children, weekly football coaching for youngsters on a Saturday, holiday clubs, community programmes and birthday party entertainment. We cater for children of all ages and abilities,” Matt added.

“Birthday parties are particularly popular as an extra-curricular activity, with each occasion based around sporting activities that ensure the little ones really deserve their birthday cake!”

The company also offers apprenticeship programmes, including BTEC and NVQ qualifications.

“If children enjoy exercise at a young age they’re more likely to stay active into adulthood,” Matt continued.

“The Government recognises this and a big part of what we do is providing help to schools so they can improve their sports education, tailoring each PE session to the needs of every child and ensuring the school meets the requirements of the PE National Curriculum.

“We help schools to make the most of their Sport Premium funding, too.”

Sportscape currently provides professional PE for more than 4,000 children each week.

“We want to take on more staff in 2015 so we can continue providing the services we do to more and more schools and individuals.

“PE and sport education are vital for healthy, happy children, and we’re just thrilled to have had such a successful first ten years with Sportscape.”
