charlie baker, Nantwich live comedy night

Live comedy with “The Very Best In Stand Up” returns to Nantwich next week – and marks five years of the show at the Civic Hall.

Big names with hilarious acts have graced the staged in that time – and the May 1 show promises to be no different.

Compere and host for the evening is Matt Reed, from Sunderland, whose affable style has won him fans across the UK.

He effortlessly plays with the crowd with a natural rapport found in few comics, and returns to Nantwich after two years.

First act and making his debut is Henry Paker, who has headlined shows worldwide since winning the Mercury ‘Comedian of the year’ in 2008.

He is one of the most sought after writers in the industry, having penned for shows like Mock the Week, 8 out of 10 Cats, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Stand Up for the Week, Big Fat Quiz of the Year, Comic Relief and Seann Walsh World.

He has also appeared on ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’ and ‘Edinburgh & Beyond’ in his own right.

Another Nantwich debutant is the fantastic Mundo Jazz.

His mission is to teach us about peace, the environment, racial harmony and love – despite knowing nothing about anything!

With all the subtlety of a brick hitting butter, Mundo’s ridiculously catchy songs, one-liners and crass philosophising are sure to be a hit.

Headline act is Charlie Baker.

His charming delivery style has earned him a reputation as ‘a superior take on the modern showman’.

He is a popular face on TV panel shows, having appeared as team captain on A Short History Of Everything Else (Channel 4), two series of Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC2), Rob Brydon’s Christmas Special (BBC1), Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live 2012 & 2013 (BBC3) and The Comedy Store (Comedy Central).
