league title Railway Hotel FC, Nantwich, league and cup double winners

The Railway Hotel in Nantwich secured a league and cup double after winning a tight Crewe FA Cup Sunday Final in extra time.

Opponents FC Semtex had taken the lead in the final through a Malcolm Bostock.

But Railway’s Danny Lavalette levelled the scores to make it 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Greg Moore then bagged the winner in the first period of extra time as the cup went the same way as the Premier Division title.

In the final game of the Premier Division season, NHB moved out of the bottom two with a 2-1 win at AFC Leopard.

In Division One, the race for the title has turned towards Rising Sun as they took their league form to nine straight wins.

They thumped Sandbach Town 7-1 (Pattinson 2, Sloan 2, Furber, Morrey, Jones) in midweek.

And they followed that up with a 4-1 win at Crewe FC with two goals from Gary Pownall, and Steve Pattinson and Damien Sloan also netting. Louis Everall scored for Crewe FC.

The title could be decided on Wednesday if Rising Sun win at Leighton. If Leighton win then it will force Rising Sun to get four points from their remaining two games.

Salvador’s chances of the title have faded following a 5-2 defeat to Wistaston Athletic.

Graham Wrench scored twice for Wistason with other goals from Jack Gilbert, Ben McGraw and Jake Maunder. Dan Lloyd scored both goals for Salvador.

Bank Corner won 3-1 at Sandbach Town with Scott Slaney scoring twice with Chris Hackney also netting. Ade Callaghan replied for Sandbach Town.
