Jon Gold, Chairman of Nantwich Town FC

Jon Gold is to step down as Chairman of Nantwich Town FC.

Jon, who has led The Dabbers for the past seven years, will be replaced by Tony Davison with effect from today May 1.

Tony has been a member of the board of Nantwich Town Football Club for nearly three years and has acted as facilities director during this time.

He said: “Jon has been a tremendous chairman of Nantwich Town.

“He has led the club through some great times, including reaching the 1st round proper of the FA Cup in 2011 and winning the Cheshire Senior Cup in 2012.

“As many of you know, Jon runs a successful and growing music retail business in locations across the country, which is extremely demanding on his time.

“Running a non-league football club is getting ever more time consuming which is a difficult balancing act while trying to run a business full time.

“I am delighted Jon will still be staying with the club and is still committed to the further success and development of Nantwich Town, taking up the position of director of football operations, providing the management, commercial and business support this side of the business needs at all levels, from our youth development through to the first team where he will be working closely with first team manager Phil Parkinson and his team.

“I would like to place on record the board’s utmost appreciation for the work and dedication Jon has put into the club as chairman over many years.

“Looking forward I believe we are very well placed. Our new manager Phil Parkinson has a clear view of the future and knows what he wants.

“He has been a great acquisition for the club and leads from the front and I am looking forward to playing my part as chairman and continuing to move the club forward.”
