The Cat signage at South Cheshire College

New studio signage is in place as part of The Cat Community Radio Station’s move to South Cheshire College.

The new Crewe and Nantwich-based FM station moved into a new space at the college in November 2014 from its former base off Beam Heath Way, Nantwich.

It now occupies a former media suite with sound-proof studios and office space.

More than £28,000 of funding from Cheshire East Council, Nantwich Town Council and Crewe Town Council allowed them to build an industry standard facility and radio transmitter to broadcast on 107.9FM.

At the college, seven BTEC media students have the chance to host a weekly show on Tuesdays, 11am-1pm.

Students Jenny Jardine and Dan Nugent are among the regular presenters, under the guidance of college media technician and Cat member, Philippa Richford.

Dan said: “We are very excited about working with The Cat which is a fantastic opportunity for us all.

“Our show is a mix of music, general chat and much more so we would encourage people to tune in and see what it’s all about.”

Chris Radford, chairman of The Cat, said: “We are so impressed with The Cat signage that is now in place in the entrance to our studio.

“It can be seen from the reception of the college, giving a real presence in the college community and can be seen by thousands of people every day.”
