Manchester Camerata

Manchester Camerata is returning to Crewe Lyceum for the first time since 2010 with a concert which could re-establish a new series.

The orchestra was unable to continue its concert series back in 2010 due to funding cuts.

But with the support of Crewe Lyceum and Cheshire East Council, one of Europe’s best chamber orchestras will once again be serenading South Cheshire residents.

Crewe Lyceum’s theatre director, Gordon Millar said: “Thanks to the support of Cheshire East Council we are privileged and proud to once again host one of the most revered orchestras in Europe and bring the best in classical music to Cheshire.”

The concert, on September 27 at 7.30pm, celebrates the spirit of España and sees classical guitar phenomenon Miloš Karadaglić performing Rodrigo’s famous Concierto de Aranjuez, plus a few surprise tracks from the Beatles.

Miloš’ first commercial solo album topped the UK classical charts.

Bob Riley, chief executive of Manchester Camerata, said: “We are delighted to be returning to Crewe after five years absence and are looking forward to bringing some of the world’s most exceptional musicians to the town.”

Manchester Camerata has a new music director – Hungarian musician, Gábor Takács-Nagy, and an outstanding new leader – Adi Brett.

The concert programme for the evening also includes Rossini’s Barber of Seville Overture, Chabrier’s España and a fresh new interpretation from Gábor Takács-Nagy and Manchester Camerata of Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony.

Tickets for Miloš Karadaglić performing at the Lyceum start from £19 (top price tickets £21) available via crewelyceum.co.uk or via the Box Office by calling 01270 368242.
