Gareth Gates launches lyceum panto Cinderella

Gareth Gates and the cast of Cheshire’s biggest pantomime, Cinderella, officially launched the show at Bridgemere Garden Centre in Nantwich.

Gates, who will play Prince Charming in the show at Crewe Lyceum, was joined by Alice Baker (Cinderella), Adam C Booth (Buttons), and Ugly Sisters Richard Foster King and Darren Southworth.

The cast met supporters of the theatre at the launch and sampled a pantomime ice cream flavour created by Nantwich producer Snugburys to celebrate the show.

Gates became a household name after appearing in the first series of the ITV talent show, Pop Idol.

He has sold over 3.5 million records in the UK and has starred in West End musicals including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Miserables and Legally Blonde.

He returned to television to star in ITV’s Big Reunion as a member of boyband super-group, 5th Story.

Panto executive producer Jonathan Kiley said: “Gareth’s singing and stage talent, combined with our amazing supporting cast, guarantees yet another magnificent pantomime season for the Lyceum Theatre.

“With stunning scenery, brilliant comedy, dazzling song and dance routines, along with the most magical pantomime moment of them all as Cinderella is taken to The Ball in a Coach pulled by Shetland Ponies, audiences are in for a treat this Christmas.”

Gordon Millar, lyceum theatre director, added: “Cinderella promises a pantomime filled with seasonal entertainment that will delight families across Cheshire and Staffordshire.

“With Gareth leading the cast, we are delighted to be presenting Crewe with a pantomime to be proud of.

“Pantomime is a big part of many families’ Festive celebrations and we encourage everyone to book their tickets early to avoid disappointment.”

Tickets are already selling fast and the show is on track to smash the box office record set by Jack and the Beanstalk last year.

Cinderella runs from Saturday December 12 to Sunday January 3, and tickets can be booked at crewelyceum.co.uk
