Becky Thorley-Fox wildlife exhibition

An exhibition of wildlife paintings opens in the Your Space gallery at Nantwich Museum this week.

The Living Landscape, an exhibition by local artist Becky Thorley-Fox, runs from Tuesday November 10 until Saturday December 19.

It has been inspired by work on the Ynys Hir RSPB reserve on the Dyfi Estuary in mid-West Wales.

The artwork captures the fleeting postures of birds as the light changes and the landscape continually re-paints itself.

Some paintings are completed on the spot but many developed from outdoor studies and sketches.

Becky said: “Through becoming fully immersed in the landscape and encountering its wildlife first hand, I am forced to work quickly and instinctively, this spontaneity helps preserve the emotion and energy of the moment.

Becky is a Creative Arts graduate and has previously exhibited at Keele University Three Counties Open Exhibition.

This year she was the 2015 Seabird bursary winner at the Society of Wildlife Artists Natural Eye exhibition at the Mall Gallery, London where she exhibited three paintings and a collection of sketches.

She recently completed a large mural for the Ynys Hir RSPB reserve which can be seen in the reserve’s visitor centre.

Admission to Nantwich Museum is free and the artwork is available for sale.
