Nantwich Town youngsters at St George's Park England training centre

Three teams from Nantwich Town made the trip of a lifetime as they headed down to St George’s Park where England stars now train, writes Richard Scott.

Dabbers youngsters honed their skills on the same facilities used by Wayne Rooney and Jamie Vardy during the trip to the FA National Football Centre at Burton.

Players from the club’s U12s, U13s and Youth Team headed to Staffordshire for the FA National Coaches Conference.

While there, the players were given a tour of facilities including the dressing room used by England senior players.

Then they were able to showcase their skills on the indoor training pitch.

And it wasn’t just their coaches watching on.

Some famous names in English football, including former Watford manager Aidy Boothrody, Wayne Allison and former Premier league winning captain Tony Adams, were also there.

The Nantwich youngsters all received positive feedback from coaches on their fitness, technical play and positive attitude.

Nantwich Town football development officer Steve Smithies said: “It was a fantastic experience for the players involved to help them develop their game.

“As well for the coaches, as it has given them some ideas to blend into the sessions and matches they run.

“For them to get feedback from the likes of Tony Adams, who went right to the top in the English game including playing for England and captaining Arsenal to the Premier League title, is amazing.

“The lads will remember this for the rest of their lives.

“It’s been also great for them to represent the name Nantwich Town FC and their teams as well as the club as a whole.

“They can be proud with the way the conducted themselves and took on all the feedback and hopefully they will be able to use it in their games.”
