Bentley Apprenticeships, technical college in Crewe

New figures show 6,730 new apprenticeships have been started by people in Crewe and Nantwich since 2010.

The latest statistics have been welcomed by Crewe & Nantwich MP Edward Timpson.

The local growth has been part of a wider increase, with 439,250 started in the North West since May 2010, and over 2.6 million new apprenticeships across England.

And Mr Timpson has praised companies around the region, including major employers like Bentley Motors.

Mr Timpson said: “These figures are fantastic news.

“6,730 new apprenticeships started locally since 2010 means more young people in Crewe and Nantwich getting the skills to get on in life and do well – as they are at places like Bentley Motors.

“Apprenticeships have been a core part of our plan to deliver a more secure future for young people, which is why we committed to deliver three million more high quality apprenticeships by 2020.

“These figures are confirming we are already making progress towards that.

“By delivering this we will ensure more young people earning and learning, with the prospect of a good job and a more secure future ahead of them.”

  1. This is fantastic new and a great achievement to helping towards the governments overall target. Apprenticeships are key to most industries within the UK and more and more younger people need to take up apprenticeships and have the relevant skills passed down to them by the people who made the UK what it is today. Keep up the good work.
