Nantwich Town disabled stand opening at Weaver Stadium

Nantwich Mayor Cllr Andrew Martin has officially unveiled a new disabled stand at the Weaver Stadium.

The stand was funded by Nantwich Town Independent Supporters Association (NTISA).

The group recycled unused dugout shelters on a raised concrete base to create the stand.

It means disabled supporters will now have a prime view of Nantwich Town on the pitch as well as being protected from the elements.

Project manager Kevin Hammersley said: “I’m delighted to see the mayor for Nantwich officially open the disabled stand.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in helping to build the stand and get it up and running in quick timing.”

Local companies who helped include Garden Wizard for providing the concrete base, S.B. Griffiths Driveways LTD the tarmac ramps and path, and Harbrook Engineering the galvanised seat brackets.

Nantwich Town Council also provided a £500 grant towards the project.

NTISA Chairman Rob Woods said: “It’s fantastic to see it already in use by supporters.”

Nantwich Town Chairman Tony Davison added: “The NTISA has always had a fantastic relationship with the club since they were formed in 2011 and they have helped with the improvement around the ground.

“This being the latest edition following the improvement to the PA system and the kitchen facilities in the function room.

“Nantwich Town is a community club and this is the latest project to help bring the Dabbers closer to the community allowing people with disabilities being able to watch the action with great views.

“I would like to also offer my thanks to Cllr Andrew Martin for taking the time to come and open the stand and for staying to watch another fantastic Nantwich performance.”

The NTISA next fundraising evening is on Friday February 26 as they host their fourth annual Frank Hope quiz night, from 7.30pm.
