X-Academy to join Crewe Lyceum Aladdin panto Cannon and Ball

Comedy veterans Cannon & Ball will star in the Crewe Lyceum Christmas panto, Aladdin, later this year.

The legendary double act have been entertaining for more than 50 years.

Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball had a variety show which ran for more than nine years on ITV, featuring classic comedy routines and trademark catchphrases.

They also starred in their own sitcoms Cannon & Ball’s Playhouse and Plaza Patrol and had their own gameshow Cannon & Ball’s Casino.

The duo also headlined comedy shows, summer seasons, plays and pantomimes across the UK.

They broke box office records for two West End residencies at the Dominion Theatre and London Palladium.

Other television credits include competing on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Coach Trip, Last of the Summer Wine and Heartbeat.

In Aladdin, they will play PC Bobby and PC Tommy ensuring the streets of Old Peking are safe from the clutches of the evil sorcerer Abanazar.

Executive Producer of Aladdin Jonathan Kiley said: “We are delighted to be bringing Bobby and Tommy to lead our cast in Crewe this year.

“With their amazing comedy routines they are true masters of pantomime and guaranteed to have the audience in hysterics with their quick wit and catchphrases.

“Aladdin is guaranteed to be a laugh-out-loud spectacle that Crewe theatregoers won’t want to miss.”

Gordon Millar, theatre director for Crewe Lyceum, said: “We are thrilled to have Cannon and Ball packing this year’s Lyceum pantomime full of laughter and giggles.

“They are an unmatched comedy twosome who will undoubtedly make Aladdin a fantastic festive treat for families in Cheshire and Staffordshire this December.”

The 2015 panto Cinderella broke box office records last year, and Lyceum bosses believe Aladdin will more than match that.

The show will run from Saturday December 10 to Sunday December 31.

Tickets are on-sale now via the Box Office or bookable online at crewelyceum.co.uk
