Cub and beaver scouts from the 1st South West Cheshire District celebrated their 100th birthday with a cake made by Nantwich bakery students.

The celebration was doubly special for the Crewe-based group, one of the oldest in the country, as it’s also the centenary of the cub scout movement nationwide.

A unique football trophy won by Stoke United ladies in Barcelona in 1923 and lost for decades, has been snapped up at a Nantwich auction.

Now the trophy will go on permanent public display at the National Football Museum following the sale at Nantwich auctioneers Peter Wilson.

A South Cheshire student’s Christmas lights show helped raise more than £10,000 in memory of his sister who died on New Year’s Eve.

Graham Witter, 21, set up hundreds of Christmas lights where he lives at Carters Green Cottage in Weston to raise money for the hospice which cared for his late sister Jessica.
