Madison Heath on Red Alert, Pony of the Year at Grand Prix event

An 11-year-old from Nantwich has scooped top honours at the 2016 Pony of the Year Show.

Madison Heath claimed the Pony of the Year 128cm Grand Prix win at Bury Farm Equestrian Village in Buckinghamshire.

Pony riders across the UK took part in the four-day event over the Easter weekend.

The show carried a Jungle Book theme with monkeys and gorillas among the animals to become part of the wings and fences.

And it was Madison who swung into action with aplomb, winning the Pony of the Year 128cm title for the second consecutive year.

Riding Red Alert III, a 13 year-old chestnut mare owned by Graham Heath, she negotiated the tightest of turns into the final vertical.

The combination produced three clears, storming round the final jump off in just 29.25 seconds.

“She is the best, she helps me over every fence, especially the last, I was so deep to it, but she came up and jumped it,” said Madison.

She also took the leading rider award.
