Nantwich police are warning residents to be wary after burglars targeted a town centre home.

It’s believed the property was broken into in the early hours yesterday (July 17).

A garden shed was broken into and pedal cycles stolen between 11pm on July 16 and 7am on July 17.

PCSO Stu Mortimer, of Nantwich Police, said: “In an effort to ensure it is an isolated incident we would ask you to help us avoid any further burglaries by supplying us with any information you may have.

“If you have seen any suspicious vehicles, persons or have any other information, please contact us on the Cheshire Police non emergency number 101 or call into Nantwich Police Station between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

“The Nantwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit, which includes both Nantwich town centre and the large rural area surrounding it, has a very low number of domestic and commercial burglaries – on average less than six a month.”

Cheshire Police are also warning residents who leave themselves open to sneak-in burglars during hot weather.

Criminals take advantage of homeowners who leave windows open, patios unlocked and doors ajar.

Residents are urged to make sure all windows are closed and locked, even when at home or in the garden, security measures on modern windows used, valuables kept out of sight such as car keys and purses, and avoid keeping large amounts of cash in the house.

Anyone with information about burglaries or see anyone acting suspiciously, call Cheshire Police on 101.
