Nantwich Town supporters and friends teamed up to help transform the club’s main function room.

Around 20 fans turned up to a “Dabbers DIY SOS” day armed with paint brushes and rollers.

And they helped repaint the entrance hall, stairs, landing and main function room.

A new store cupboard was built to house tables and chairs, and a new carpet was laid to complete the renovation project.

The ground, built in 2007, has hosted supporters on match days for more than nine years, as well as weddings, birthday parties and other functions.

New function room manager Vicky Williams led the renovation project.

She said: “I couldn’t be happier with the result and I want to say a massive thank you to all the fans that turned up to help us.

“It was a great community spirit over the two days, and we managed to paint every wall in the club, including retiling the toilets, which is no mean feat for a stadium this size.

“I was busy suppling teas, coffees and bacon sandwiches whilst kids and adults mucked in to complete the renovation.

“To have built, plastered and painted a large storage area is a real bonus which allows us to have spare tables and chairs stored away neatly but readily available when we need them.

“We have had lots of compliments from fans on match days and also from all the people that have booked and attended events here.

“The last two months we have had six weddings, more than 10 birthday parties and quite a few corporate events.

“Alongside our own Christmas party nights, we were determined to redecorate and carpet the place before events took place, and this means all our events next year will benefit too.

“We are completely booked out on every Saturday through to March, with lots of other weekday events, which is great.

“It’s a fantastic venue able to cater for more than 200 people – and with the smaller Lindop lounge available for more intimate events.

“The large car park is a real bonus to people who book events here as guests can park and walk into town afterwards if they fancy continuing their night into the early hours!”

The club is in talks with different breweries to freshen up the drinks offering.

“Fans really have been fantastic and it was amazing to see adults and loads of children painting away in their spare time,” added Vicky.

The club has also installed BT Sport to screen Premiership games, as well as live National League, Non-League and FA Cup ties.
