Tom Peers chips the goalkeeper for the second goal v Frickley

Nantwich Town came from behind to win 2-1 at fellow promotion rivals Hednesford Town at Keys Park.

They had fallen behind in the 2nd minute when Danny Glover finished clinically.

But they equalised through Tom Peers (pictured), who bagged his second for the club, and earned all three points when Hednesford full back Kyle Haynes turned into his own net.

Phil Parkinson made two changes from the side that started against Corby Town in their last outing.

New signing John Johnston, on loan from Salford City, was handed his debut. Ibou Touray returned in place of Joel Stair.

Hednesford named former Dabbers striker Vinny Mukendi on the bench as they looked to build on back to back wins.

Johnston made an impact inside 60 seconds, beating his man and squaring the ball to Mwasile who couldn’t turn the ball home.

The Dabbers fell behind a minute later.

The ball was given away and Hednesford broke with numbers.

It was played to Glover, who cut inside and buried the ball past Gyollai.

Bell had a partially blocked shot which Hednesford keeper Dan Crane gathered.

From a Dabbers corner, the ball pinballed around the box before Crane smothered.

At the other end, Tony Clarke had a looping shot straight at Gyollai.

Johnston was causing problems and he showed good skill to beat his man to the byline, but he couldn’t get a cross away.

From the goal kick, the ball was skewed to Peers, who showed speed to beat Hednesford defenders and calmly finished past Crane for the equaliser.

Chances became few and far between, but the tempo remained fast as both teams searched for the second goal.

From a ball into the Hednesford box, it fell to Peers, but his shot was blocked for a corner.

Johnston then had an attempt which was again comfortable for Crane.

Both teams continued to battle, but the chances were scarce.

Right before half time, the Dabbers should have gone in ahead.

A mistake by Nat Brown allowed Peers to get in behind, but his square ball to Mwasile was just out of reach.

The ball eventually fell to Johnston, who skewed his effort high and into the arms of Crane.

In the second half, Nantwich went on the offensive.

They forced early corners before Mwasile shot narrowly wide.

Curtis Jones headed just over and Bell rattled the bar with a curling effort before Johnston fired the rebound over.

The second goal was coming and it did 10 minutes into the second half.

Johnston crossed into the six-yard box after breaking clear and the ball was turned into his own goal by Haynes, with Mwasile lurking behind.

The Dabbers didn’t let up as they sought a third to give them some breathing room.

The chances continued to come and Peers almost had a second as he beat the offside trap and advanced, but his attempt to round Crane was foiled.

The Dabbers were dominant, but Hednesford suddenly forced pressure and Mukendi planted a header wide from a corner.

It was as close as the home side were to come to an equaliser.

The Dabbers went up the other end, with Mwasile beating two men easily and forcing a superb reflex save.

Ben Harrison was next to test the keeper, as he curled an effort which was tipped round the post.

Another attack followed, with Mwasile setting up Bell, but a last ditch block saw the ball deflect narrowly wide.

Nantwich remained on top even after changes were made, and saw out the rest of the game for three huge points to move up to third in the league table.
