Nantwich Museum has received a £1,000 donation to help fund its Dementia Friendship Group.

The money was raised by members of the Rotary Club of Nantwich.

Cheques were presented to Kate Dobson, museum manager, by Christine Crowe, President of the Rotary Club of Nantwich.

The Dementia group is open to anyone living with or caring for someone with dementia and meets on the first and/or third Monday of each month.

The Pillory Street museum offers a comfortable and relaxed environment where people are free to come and go.

Sessions have a different theme each week and use objects from specially created reminiscence boxes and the museum’s collection.

There is a chance to chat about the theme, take part in an activity and a cup of tea and chance to meet other people.

The museum is an independent charitable trust.

It costs about £1,000 a week to run with only a proportion of its income provided by local council grants.

The balance is found through donations and fund raising, including the museum shop, town tours and educational activities.
