Fire crews tackled a house blaze in Nantwich after residents managed to scramble clear.

The incident happened on Bowyer Avenue, near the Barony, at around 1.30pm today (October 13).

Fire appliances from Nantwich and Crewe were called out to a blaze on the first floor of a domestic property.

Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used one hose reel jet and a large fan to extinguish the blaze.

Crews then used a thermal imaging camera to check the property.

All people inside the house had evacuated by the time fire crews arrived.

Crews were at the scene for an hour.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
