‘The Very Best In Stand Up’ returns to Nantwich Civic Hall with another stellar bill for the final show of the season.
The first act of the evening on Friday December 1 is Mark Nelson.
Since winning the inaugural Scottish Comedian of the Year Award in 2006, Nelson’s mix of dark humour, cutting observations and superb one-liners has seen him firmly established as one of the UK’s comedy powerhouses.
His likeable manner on stage belies some of the stronger content and he often has audiences laughing at things they know they really shouldn’t be laughing at.
Next act is one of the UK’s rising stars, Ivo Graham, who started stand-up in 2009 aged 18.
Eight months later, he became the youngest winner of the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny award for new acts at Edinburgh Fringe.
This has led to appearances on TV and radio shows including Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, Comedy Central At The Comedy Store, As Yet Untitled, Live From the BBC and Fighting Talk.
Last up is acerbic Irishman Michael Legge, a stand up, writer, actor, compere, improviser, warm-up and won the 2009 Chortle Best Off Stage Contribution for his blog, and the 2012 Sony Silver award winner for the ongoing podcast Do The Right Thing.
He co-presented the Absolute Radio Sunday show with Dave Gorman.
Legge is known for his grumpy rants and his ire with the little social faux-pas of modern life.
He recently recorded a pilot of Do The Right Thing for C4, with Claudia Winkleman as the show’s host, where he reprises his role as team captain.
Compere for the evening is Andrew Bird.
He worked in a bar in London where he practised making regulars laugh before his career in live comedy took off.
Since then, Bird has become a top headline act up and down the UK as well as performing around the world from Dublin to Doha.
He has supported Rhod Gilbert and Lee Hurst on tour, and was warm-up artist for TV shows including Nevermind The Buzzcocks, Room 101 and Pointless.
Bird is also a writer in demand, having written for series such as 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Mock The Week.
