Bowie Experience - Crewe Lyceum

David Bowie fans were treated to a great tribute night at The Lyceum when The Bowie Experience, The Golden Years Tour came to Crewe, writes Claire Faulkner.

Opening the show with Space Oddity, singer Laurence Knight was supported by an exceptionally talented group of musicians who celebrated the music of one of the world greatest pop icons.

Performing hit after hit including Changes, Life on Mars? and The Jean Genie.

They sounded amazing and the audience were soon singing along and dancing in front of the stage.

In between songs, Laurence chatted to the crowd and shared memories of performing at The Lime Light.

I had thought that Golden Years was a particular highlight of the show, but then came Fashion and Let’s Dance, which were just brilliant.

From there the show just got even better and better.

By the time Under Pressure, Fame and Heroes had been performed I’d nearly lost my voice from singing along, and I noticed that the audience in the circle were up and dancing.

For the encore we were all encouraged to sing along to All The Young Dudes, which of course we did.

This is a professional and well-produced show.

The stage, costume and lighting design were remarkable.

I’m sure that everyone there enjoyed the show.

There was something uniquely special about David Bowie, and the Bowie Experience manages to create and capture this from beginning to end.
