Scores of Santas young and old braved the wind and rain to complete the annual Nantwich Santa Dash.

Families donned their best Christmas outfits for the event in aid of Hope House Children’s Hospice.

It was held a week late after the original race, planned for December 10, was postponed due to the snow and ice.

Participants lined up at around 10.30am yesterday and enjoyed a much-needed warm-up to music in the town square.

The races, sponsored by Tarporley-based recycling firm RUKGroup.com, then took place through the town centre.

Participants chose either the 2.5km dash – or the longer 5km race.

All participants receives a medal, mince pies donated by Chatwins, chocolate donated by Sugro UK in Nantwich, and water donated by Morrisons.

Hope House provides specialist nursing care and support to children and families across Cheshire.

All money raised from the Santa Dash will go directly to Hope House Children’s Hospices and help support local families.

Area Fundraiser Hannah Penney said: “We would like to say a huge thank you RUK Group.com, Experts in Recycling, for being the headline sponsor of this event.

“Their continued support over the years has been amazing, and it’s been a pleasure to work with them on this event.

“It’s also great to have many local businesses on board.”
